About Me

Since 2014 I have had the wonderful opportunity of teaching elementary and middle school general music and choir in public and charter schools in Georgia and Florida.

My teaching experiences are very well informed by my research interests which include Critical Race Theory and Black Feminist Thought from a point of inclusion within music education as well as popular music education within the educational cannon. I have presented my research at the Mountain Lake Colloquium, International Symposium on the Sociology of Music Education, and Suncoast Music Education Symposium,

During my free time, I am an avid traveler, a novice hiker, and a lover of slacklining and baking. I enjoy reading fictional and non-fictional works by feminist writers such as Roxane Gay and Morgan Jerkins, listening to podcasts that focus on pop culture such as "The Read" "Around the Way Curls and "Lovett or Leave It", as well as spending time with my nieces and nephews.
